What do you think of Psychiatry?

I really want to work in a mental institution and I just don't know which path to take-
I've ALWAYS wanted to become a psychiatrist and now I don't know- everyone says how medical school is a waste of time if I just end up becoming a psychiatrist and why don't I just do a PhD in psychology?
Because I want to be a psychiatrist! So, now, I'm debating whether I should really become a psychiatrist or not- what do you think?
And also what do you do after you major in neuroscience?
What do students actually study when they major in neuroscience?

Wow! I question the same but I'm probably going to major in Psychology and get a PhD in it. Neuroscience is amazing. Another good option is the PsyD. If you can take medical school, I say go for it - It's much more beneficial if you want to handle medications. If you plan on being a psychiatrist, you need to go to med school.

You will need to take biology, chemistry, physics, calculus, stats, and psychology.

Take all the required classes for Med School, take the MCATs, apply to med school, then do Psychiatry Residency :)

I've always wanted to become one as well. Human behavior and the mind just intrigues me! :D
