Neuroscience / General Science questions

I am a high school student on the eve of graduation and I am in the process of choosing what school to go to, etc.
I know I don't have to decide all this kind of stuff now, but I'm trying to figure out what I want to major in in college, and I'm highly considering neuroscience as an option.

But, I'm wondering about how that would work out down the road, as a career path. What I would have to do / what field of focus is best for me / what degrees i will need. I am aware that I will probably need a PhD or MD...

I'm just wondering if you guys have any advice for someone who is more interested in the "human experience" side of neuroscience and psychology, what it means to be a person, the implications the brain has on our lives, things of that nature, and which field might be good for me, or whether neuroscience is a good idea at all?

Just to clarify, i don't really want specific school recommendations or anything, just advice. Thanks, guys.

It sounds like you’re more interested in the philosophical side of things rather than the science side. Anywho there are different path’s. You can go up to your Master’s and become a Clinical Psychologist or Counselor or something along those lines. You can also become a professor at a community college. Or you can go for a terminal degree like a Ph. D and become involved in research. If you decide to for the M.D. route, you would basically receive the title psychiatrist(only M.D.'s can be called psychiatrist’s as they can prescribe medication, and to do that a M.D. is required) So you have a good number of choices, as long as you get at least a Master’s.

You may also want to look into the field of cognitive science which may seem to be closer to what you’re looking for. Neuroscience is more intensive on the natural sciences.
