<p>For the common app, I've tentatively chosen option 4, which says: "Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence." </p>
<p>Do you think its ok to make your essay about something you're bad at, and how a fictional character inspires you to do better?</p>
<p>More specifically, my topic is how I've never been good at anything artsy or creatively-oriented, and how Calvin (from "Calvin and Hobbes") inspires me to just relax and imagine.</p>
<p>Is this stupid/excellent/cheesy/too weird?</p>
