What do you think of this essay topic?

For the common app, I've tentatively chosen option 4, which says: "Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence."

Do you think its ok to make your essay about something you're bad at, and how a fictional character inspires you to do better?

More specifically, my topic is how I've never been good at anything artsy or creatively-oriented, and how Calvin (from "Calvin and Hobbes") inspires me to just relax and imagine.

Is this stupid/excellent/cheesy/too weird?

there is no right or wrong. i take that back… what you end up doing should be the right one.

I like it, it is creative and itsme is correct.

It would work, but it’s not really all that compelling of a topic. You sound like you don’t have a topic you’re all that passionate about. Choose topic 6 and write an essay on your strongest EC, which should be the one you’re most passionate about.

What do you think about writing about my summer job walking corn rows?
