"What do you want for graduation?"

I'm starting to get asked that and I can't really think of what I need...

Other than money, what essentials do you need for college?

So far I came up with a shower bag....lol

Ask them to hold off until after the first semester. Then you’ll know it’s something you want and not just something you think you’ll want.

well for graduations my family always gives money to the graduate and the parents do something special. for me i have gotten money and the big gift that my parents will give me is a laptop.

I def. am greatful for the money. I didn’t get crap for finacial aid so that will def. help a lot.

just think outside of the box and imagine yourself in a dorm. what would you want/need there?

Even though I’m not graduating, I have a big laundry list for my parents (yes, only child):
Mini fridge
New Car ('08 or '09, not possible though)
Pay for the entire year (likely not happening)
Dishes, glasses, yada yada
Tablet laptop (Idk about this one)
New clothes, shoes :)

Yeah that’s basicly it.

Im asking for 3 things:

1-Shares
2-Laptop
3-Bottle of champagne

:)

since im getting very little for graduation, i kinda came up with a joke list for my parents and my class, since we are all relatively poor.
1- a snuggie (a college must! its a blanket WITH SLEEVES!!!)
2- a couple bottles of sparkling apple cider
3- a car (Hot Wheels preferably, but Matchbox will be acceptable. i want something thats reliable and wont break down on me in the middle of races:):))
4- a CD of classic Disney songs
5- that all of my classmates get a facebook (the three that dont at least) and that we stick together
6- stationary to write on to one of my best friends whose going to annapolis!!!

Toyota Supra with the Fast and Furious body kit.

A laptop would be nice.

I’m getting a computer (either desktop or laptop). I wouldn’t mind getting both a cheap desktop and a cheap laptop plus an external drive, though that would go to about $1000 (probably above the suggested zone).

Wow, I don’t think I want anything…weird. I have a car and a laptop, plus I’ll be living at home so there’s nothing new I need.

How sad.

A diploma.

This is slightly off topic. I’m a junior, and I have couple friends that invited me to their graduation party. Should I buy something for them for graduation? If so, what can I get?

Ipod touch for me personally. I got an acer (also have used HP minis) and would suggest getting one of those

A bike would probably be helpful.

“Oh hai mom and dad, I know you just spend tens of thousands of dollars educating me and keeping me fed and clothed so could you give me more money in celebration of spending that much money before spending hundreds of thousands on my college education. Thanks”

^My sentiments exactly.

It depends, but don’t buy something too expensive.

Your parents spent tens of thousands of dollars on your education? They’re going to spend hundreds of thousands on your college education? Maybe you should stop wasting their money.

Show me some parents that haven’t spent 10,000$ in raising and educating their child(ren) from birth to graduation. Oh that’s right, you can’t.

And at the rate of inflation and money grubbing of colleges it won’t be long until the average college education costs at least 100,000$ (if it already doesn’t)

And by the way, if the money is spend on education it’s not wasted money. I think if you think you deserve an expensive present for your parents hard work at educating and raising you’re selfish and have a disconnect with reality oh so popular here on CC.

only a junior, but …
i’d like a new laptop
mini fridge
ummm … wow i’d thought this list would be longer.

Get a job and buy your laptops and stuff with your own money. It’s what I’ve done.

Really, after you are 18 you really shouldn’t assume that you can depend on your parents.
