I got 93% in class 12, 90.2% in class 11 and 10 CGPA in class 10. Is this enough to get admitted into UofT? Will they ask me for TOEFL OR IELTS marks as I’m not a native speaker? Some Canadian universities judge our English eligibility on the basis of English board marks. Is this true for UofT?
Contact the admissions office at U of T and ask them. It really, truly is OK to do that. They will be able to answer all of your questions.
I contacted them, but I still didn’t get a reply.
UT requires either the TOEFL or IELTS. See attached link:

Test scores
Ask testing agencies to send official reports of scores you earned on the SAT with Essay or ACT with Writing exams
. (You must also submit TOEFL or IELTS scores if you are an international applicant.)
International Applicants
International applicants must submit either an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score report demonstrating an adequate knowledge of English. The TOEFL iBT is preferred.
International applicants are exempt from this requirement if they:
Are from a country where English is the only official language; or
Graduate from a high school in the United States or in a country where English is the only official language after completing at least three years of study.
Minimum scores acceptable for admission are:
TOEFL: 550 (paper test), 213 (computer-based test) or 79 (internet-based test)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
But universities like UofA and Mcgill University do not require this for students who finished their schooling in an institution where English is the primary language of instruction. They usually ask for a minimum mark in grade 12 English to replace TOEFL or IELTS.
u of A and Mcgill aren’t Austin. Now you have the answer. Are you questioning whether what the site of the school lists as their requirements really are their requirements or are you complaining. Some US public schools go to some length to ensure that students they accept can speak English and others care less.
I was questioning the English requirements on their website. BTW, I didn’t put that austin thing there. I’m new here.
Just take the TOEFL. From what I can tell, you’ll do fine!
OP, are you asking about the Univ of Texas at Austin or Univ of Toronto? Asking because your comparisons are to Canadian universities and you mention that you didn’t “put that austin thing there”, but you’ve posted in the Univ of Texas forum. If you are asking about the Univ of Toronto, you might want to post in that forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-toronto/
Thanks rout66
I’ve learned that “U of T” refers to Toronto. UT is Texas. So yes, the poster posted the question in the wrong forum.
