What Does BEER Taste Like ?

haha...way to tie in the original subject of the thread, cavalier.

i must admit the cardinal color and tree aren't the best mascots, but we own in every other aspect. haha.

yeah...but not in the looks department

thank god you didn't come to penn! I thought you were alright when you mentioned a good Stella Artois but you are so damn ignorant. I too lived in Europe (Switzerland, France, UK) and in Mexico and I can definitely tell you that Europeans love beer. From the Czechs to the Brits, from the Irish to the German, from the French to the Italians, and from the Polish to the Belgians...

Also, drinking can be classy. A good wine at dinner, a glass of scottish malt scotch whisky at an upscale lounge for a business gathering with a group of investment bankers, a cocktail or a glass of champagne at a social event, and yes even a quality beer at an upscale bar...there's nothing wrong with drinking in moderation. I have been drinking wine at dinner since I was 14 and all other alcohol since I was 16. I know my limit and I've never gotten to the point where I blackout or throw up. There is definitely more alcoholism in the US, especially among the young adults, as they don't know their limits and since alcohol is taboo they abuse it whenever they can.

Stanford has a tree; Berkeley has weird ppl, male pervs, and the homeless; but UVa has a sense of humor :p :)

Best response yet. We should all bow down to you. Beer and alcohol are great and classy. Europeans love beer. And anyone who suggests substituting vegetable juice for a glass of wine...well, have fun in LA. Let's leave it at that.

Yes. This is the credited response. ;)

absinth???

Zipzoopzabulous,

ok and i thought my Jerkeley thing was lame. haha.

hmm lets see, who are the most recognized people from stanford and berkeley right now?

stanford=tiger woods
berkelely=william hung

we win

I am that rather strange thing: An Irishwoman who doesn't like beer.

All forms of alcohol are amazing. drink beer a few times and you will love it.

Yeah you learn to love it. Especially, your beer and others taste crappy. Even tho they really all taste the same at first. I think my first beer was a bit like bitter water. But it was Keystone which was basically water in the first place.

Try the watery beers first to get introduced to the type of bitteriness. I love Rolling Rock personally. I think it is slightly sweet and refreshing. But a lot of people like Corona and I think it tastes dirty bitter like ****water or something. I can't seem to learn to like that one. So just shop around, there is bound to be one you like, even if you hate beer.

Beer tastes like the floor.

Or atleast that's what I expect a floor to taste like.

"Chick beer"* though... wonderful.

*Mike's Hard Lemonades (many flavors), Wine coolers, etc.

I was looking through a case for work and I found this:

Worldwide Beer Consumption (Top 10 Countries litres per capita)

Czech Republic (13.15 US oz per day)
Germany (11.4)
Denmark (10.43)
Ireland (9.97)
Austria (9.56)
Belgium (8.74)
UK (8.25)
Australia (7.89)
USA (7.08)
Slovakia (7.00)

so 8 out of the top 10 are European...interesting

game set match-NOT zipzoopzabulous
HAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHA

Go Beer and Go Blue!

but none of those european countries are sophistcated like france or italy...jp :)

Just got back from Germany and Prague. In some areas in Prague, beer was cheaper than water. The drinking age in Germany is 16.

Beer doesn't taste sweet, and why would anyone expect it to taste nice? In the U.S., it's hard to relate because teens think it's just something to consume and to "get wasted." I didn't see any drunk Europeans, because having a low drinking age in those countries takes away the "rebelliousness" of drinking alcohol.

I agree with Zipzoopzabulous and cswim. The idea of drinking alcohol as a cultural norm is unfathomable for many Americans today, especially when drinking alcohol seems more like a joke to Americans. Their loss.

easternboarder, just a quick addition...drinking age in Germany is 16 for beer, 18 for hard liquor. I think.

baller4lyfe... take a swig. of anything.

If you don't like beer (which I wouldn't blame you for) but just just want some alcohol or w/e, reach for the smirnoff (green apple is probably the best flavor) or a mike's (mike's hard lemonade). There's hardly any alcohol in them, and both actually taste like some sort of jelly rancher or fizzy sweetened juice. Go nuts, man.

is there any alcoholic beverage (which can still get you drunk) that you think actually TASTES VERY GOOD ?

You know, like the taste of a fruit juice drink, those "Key-Lime" or "Kiwi Strawberry" types of tastes from a regular juice drink' (which of course are not alcoholic) - but that alcoholic beverages MAINTAIN those types of "tastes", if you get what I mean.

If there are any, list them.

Palm wine is pretty good...but you have to get that from a Carribbean store only I think. It can have a good balance...it depends on the brand. Don't get more than one bottle from each brand...this past weekend my parents bought some and this one brand has this really watery taste to it...and we have like 4 bottles left. Not sure on the alcoholic content...but It's definitally not strong.

Arbor Mist might work...but I've never really tried it...like a sip but it was a long time ago.

And I think all alcohol can get you drunk....you just have to drink more of some than of others.
