What Does Chicago Represent?

I was appalled and then after a minute, I was proud of going to a university that puts education above all else. Bravo, UChicago, Bravo!

I thought you were an applicant?

P.S. I've been lurking, just hadn't registered yet. ;)

Chicagonobel is going to get in...he/she has great stats. :)

Yep. When I read that line, I cracked up...HAHAHA...Chicago seriously rules.

going...will be going...In about 20 days, I shall write "I am going to UChicago"...well, at least in my dreams:)

So Chicago (Did you know Chicago means "onion?" I forget which Native American language it's from, but it's true.) is your first choice, chicagonobel? Glad to see someone else who acknowledges it as a first-choice school and not a "safety." Bleh.

wow...all of us--myself, Brainstorm & Catch-22-- are online now at 02:12 PM GMT

UChicago being such an excellent school, It bothers me very much when people refer to her as a "safety" and degrade the great university to such a low level.

Haha, it's "Brinestorm." An interesting little Freudian slip there, cn. :P

Well, Chicago isn't my first choice...but it is really really really really really close to first. I don't understand why ppl refer to Chicago as a safety, heck, it's a great school, and I would be mighty happy to go.

A safety school doesn't imply that one doesn't want to go there, it just means that one has a good chance of getting in. One of my friend's #1 choice is a safety school (aka a "likely" school).

But along with the idea of one's odds of acceptance, marlgirl, the word "safety" often connotes a lackluster if not non-existent desire to attend that school.

My #1, McGill, is almost a safety. But my "#1" choice changes daily.

Don't see how it's a big deal. I am sure a lot of schools had turned down QoE also and no one would get spanked by the "queen" (queen of who??) anyway. LOL!
