What does colleges check, individual result or overall???

Do colleges check individual unit results for A-Levels or overall results???

For example, A person takes AS Chemistry and gets the following result:

Unit 1: A
Unit 2: B
Unit 3: A
Overall AS Chem result is "A"

Which one will matter to colleges???

They just see the overall grade. Plus, on the certificate you’ll get for AS Chem, you’ll only have the overall grade, not the unit breakdown

But its there on the Statement of results (results slip). Don’t I have to show my statement of results??? By the way, I’m doing A-Levels from Edexcel.

^ You only need to send in your statement of results if you don’t have your certificate. Your certificate does not have the grades for individual units, only your overall grade for that AS/A-level.

just get the AS level certificate and send that. You definitely dont need to, and in my opinion, shouldnt, send in your Statement of Result. It’s written on the statement that this is not the official final result.

I was always under the impression that you can’t get your AS level certificate unless you cash in your UMS marks? (I.e., you tell them you won’t be continuing the subject at A2 level). I could be wrong…

Will I get my certificate by December as I took the exam in the June 2009 session???

Edexcel doesnt automatically send out AS-level certificates, you have to request one through the centre where you took your exams. Dont worry, they’ll reach you well before December if you ask them ASAP.

@cdover, you can get them. I got the certificates and continued all my AS-level subjects in A-levels. :)
