What does industrial engineering primarily use?

<p>I understand what IE's do, but I am still having trouble understanding what all the classes involve. I am interested in industrial engineering, but a bit confused. Are operations research and all of the IE only classes pretty much applied math? </p>

<p>ChemE has chemistry
MechE/Aero has physics
EE has circuits
IE has...?</p>

<p>Statistics ( Using probabilities and associated distributions ) which is used in queueing theory, quality control,etc and applied math for OR.</p>
