I have a final this saturday. Winter storm electra is coming through. There has been talks of 3-5 inches of snow and then 1-3 inches of snow. I go to Fairfield University in connecticut.

What are the chances of this final getting cancelled?

This is my last final. I need to take it to go home. I want to go home.

What does it take to cancel a college final?

How are you getting home? If you already have a plane ticket, ask your professor if he would let you take it early. Of course you realize that if the weather is so bad that the final would be canceled (which is highly unlikely, as most students live on campus and can walk to the final, and that it is not necessary that the professor be present at the final if s/he cannot get to campus–there is always someone else on campus who can proctor if necessary)–that it also is likely that public transportation is going to be closed down as well.

I am driving. I will take the train if necessary. I live an hour away in northern connecticut. I am taking the final earlier, this is the earlier date. But I was just wondering what the chances would be if campus was closed somehow?

Do a little bit of research–when were the last 4 or 5 times your campus was closed, and what were the weather circumstances? that should give you an idea of how rare this would be. I don’t think a couple inches of snow will be an event worthy of shutting down campus.

If it is so easy for you to get home, what is the big deal if it is a day earlier or a day later?Or to go home, and then come back for the final? Although you realize that if the campus closes …it’s likely the roads also will be closed, and the train won’t be running either.

My university is a commuter school, and it closed for the first time in 17 years last year. I’m in Michigan with kind of sporadic weather along with snow from the lake, and it was BAD (probably a good foot or so with more coming).

Prior to that day, however, we still had classes on all the crappy weather days. There was once a blizzard and all the high schools in the area were closed, but they still made everyone come.

Unless there’s another hurricane, I’d say you’ll have your final. Lol
