Hey guys, I know that Mount Holyoke is one of the most mixed liberal art colleges. Now i'm applying for EDII-just because I found out that I love Mount Holyoke the best a bit later.

Now i'm a bit worried about my application. I really want to go to Mount Holyoke, however, I'm not so sure about how exactly they think of internationals and especially asians. What do they think it's most important for a Mount Holyoke girl? so are we " ambitious super women"? what character do they especially look at when looking into an applicant? I really want to know that, although i get to know a bit from reading about Mount Holyoke and all, I want to know more about it from you guys. But honestly, I really feel I'm a Mount Holyoke type of girl. I feel i belong there. i feel that is where I'm going to go to...I am worried, but i really would love to go to Mount Holyoke.

I guess they don't discriminate regarding ethnic groups during application. They demand good writing, ECs esp leadership, sports maybe, academics of course, fairly SAT but not taking as imp. yet considered, toefl scores....etc

MHC do accepts quite a lot intl students...n many asians....practically ppl posting here in MHC thread seem to be mostly asians...

SAT i guess is the last thing they look at...tho i think my SAT score screwed up my application as i had not sent my toefl score due to dates problem here in Nepal. Since , i got deferred now...i will be sending the toefl score.

The most imp things like rigor_col said are writing skills, leadership skills,n ECAs matter a lot too..

Drusyi...u never know what the coll is looking for? The best will be just present a unique application n be just u.....

Mount Holyoke wants students who are applying because they actually want to go, and not just because the application is free (your dedication to this forum is proof of your dedication to the school).

Mount Holyoke prides itself in being a "women's college"; upon applying, I focused on explaining how I didn't feel like I women-- I still looked and felt like a girl, but I knew that I belonged at MHC. MHC wants you to know who you are and what you want; the bold students are always the best applicants.

In my high school in China, I chose to be in one of those "liberal art students" class, there were almost all girls in my class. And I feel really special about my class, cause we are some kind of a special group. For MHC, I think the feelings will be somehow similar yet pretty different too, because it's a college designed for girls, and how excited is that! In MHC, I will never think of a thing like: oh those are what boys do, i can't do that, blah blah, and i can do whatever i think of in my mind, i can do a lot of things that where else i might be hesitate, and that is really great, and I pride myself being in a "women's college"..well although I have no idea if i can get in yet...I am nervous, but if i get defered or something i'd feel a bit hurted, cause i really love MHC

Hmmm....first hand, don't be nervous Drsuyi. You really really love MHC thats the main point. Don't think that u might get deferred......yes, it hurts.it hurted a lot....but, u have to be optimistic. Cheer up!! :)

Your posting in this MHC thread shows how much committed u are...i know some of the gals who are just trying their luck at MHC. They had applied for ED1 n didn't know that the decisions are out...until i told them...

Your unique and show that in ur application. And, craft a really good essay!!

I think I had felt the same way, Drsyui, when I started writing my esssay. What does the college want to see in me? But as I wrote , I wrote from my heart, told what I really feel about myself , about the college and about how the place would be right for me. I think being yourself is the key rather than trying to be what they want you to be.

Uhm...i don't know how much Mount Holyok look on SAT and Toefl, but honestly i worked very very hard on those, and it turned out to be that I'm really worst luck- i messed up the bubbles on the answer sheet in one CR section(that morning..i had a fever)...that hurted much...because you don't see your work pay out in such a way...and for toefl, i didn't get a high score since i prepared only 10 days, for ibt 98 i thought it's a ok score, didn't take it again, though my SAT verbal score will convince them that my english is good enough. but now...i feel worried...how they will trust me...

MHC doesn't really care about standardized tests( or so I have heard), if your toefl score is above the minimum required score for MHC , then you should be fine

collegegirlee...i have no idea abt who else got in...gals frm bnks didn't even know that the decisions were out online...they seemed perplexed..i was shocked to hear that...maybe i will find that out eventually in few days...n tell u ...i'll give u a call
