I'm considering doing this becuase I can't afford college. What does this really mean? I have to enlist afterwards? What kind of enlistment?

It’s an officer accession program. That’s different than enlisting. Google is your friend. There’s lots of information out there about NROTC that will give you more details than you will get here at CC. I will tell you this: NROTC scholarships are very competitive.

Take it from me - if you do not want to be an officer and are just looking for a way to pay your tuition, that has a way of biting you.

Google ROTC disenrollment to see what I mean.

^^^
Well said. The primary reason for wanting to join a NROTC unit should be because you want to serve as an officer in the Navy or Marine Corps. Having the government pay for your school is just a very nice side benefit.

I dont know how else to afford school though.

It is an officer training program. You are committing to being an officer for a period of years after graduation and commissioning.

If you don’t commission, you will pay back the fees that Army, Navy, Air Force or Marines has paid for your education - regardless of financial need.

Let’s just say I know how big a bill this is for someone who made it just shy of graduation and lost his spot and owes it all back.

I dont know how else to afford school though.

What about this, that you wrote in your other thread?

And I also have outside scholarships as well as the stafford loan, which makes it less than 10k that I need i merit, so dont assume things you dont know. And to everyone who keeps questioning my ability to pay for these schools, forget that. My dad will pay. This is just a threat that wont last very long, but I need a quick fix solution to the problem that I’m facing with my essay.

I so do not care for trolls.

Maybe you are really in need of help paying for college. If so, do some real research and take some time figuring this out. If people try to help you and you misrepresent yourself and your situation, it is just bad form and the next person who asks won’t be as lucky. People get burned and we do not want to help, then.

Its not that, my situation changes every day…

Well, maybe you should let your situation stabilize, and that way when you solicit advice people can respond with information that will actually be useful.

The military does not want kids who are unstable, particularly for the big scholarships that fund tuition, books and a minthly stipend.

Get it together, than research all you can.

Also, applying for the scholarship is a long process that would have started in spring of junior year.

If you are college entry ROTC student, not everyone gets funding - particularly first years.

On your other thread, a poster took the time to list out all of the colleges where your stats could guarantee you significant merit aid…as well as what YOUR net cost would be. Many of them had costs for you below $10,000 a year. You claim your businesses make 5 figures…so you should be able to attend any number of these colleges.

That is how you could afford to pay for college.
