Intelligence is a subjective word IMO. I have a really big problem with using test scores to gauge intelligence. For example, is a 2400 SAT scorer smart if he has unprotected sex with multiple people is high school? Is a 1500 scorer smart if he or she puts her priorities in straight and takea care of her friends and families first? What is your idea of an OVERALL intelligent person, not only in academics but social situations or creative vision, etc.

The definition of intelligence actually has nothing to do with what you’ve, but your potential to accomplish something

I think you’re comparing intelligence to common sense/logic. To me, intelligence is the amount of knowledge one possesses, coupled with the ability to learn new information. Common sense, or “street smarts” or logic or anything else is entirely different IMO. Everybody has both, just in different levels. One may dominate the other or they may be balanced out.

As far as standardized testing goes, yeah, it may not be the perfect system, but it’s a system. A system is needed to gauge a student’s performance. And yes, there are many variables that can affect the outcome of the score, but standardized testing still gauges time management and reasoning skills.

“what you’ve accomplished” is what I meant to say
