I’m with Rodney–obvious that the first reader of the app liked it and your D…but the decisions will be made by the committee…and the committee can either concur or demur.

Thanks all for your very intelligent responses – I am amazed at the thoughtfulness of the parents on this site, and have learned a lot from your experience. So thank you for such a balanced viewpoint. I am going to keep my enthusiasm in check for now, but it made me stop kicking myself (at least for today) for not encouraging my kid to apply to more safety schools. So the wait goes on…and ironically, my kid is way more chill than I am about all this.

My DS got two of these types of replies last year. Both came via regular mail as postcards. Both with positive comments about his essay. From a little digging on this website, I was assured that they were “we like you, you are in” postcards. He knew when he received those postcards that he would be admitted. He was admitted to both schools.

They can’t send likely letters, but they can send these emails/postcards. They want you to be excited about their school.

Good luck to your child on the rest of the admissions process! Did you check the school site here on cc to see what others have said about the email?
