My status was stuck on "we have received and are currently reviewing" from NOVEMBER 28th until January 23rd...almost 2 months.

Now I'm waiting for it to past the "preliminary review" stage...not looking good for my dream school =/

Chinaski: I just perused your posts to find out that yes, you too, are from the esteemed Garden State....Seems like we are all on hold, just to let you know.....We'll keep you posted......FYI, you are #4 from NJ/PA on this post in limbo(same admissions officer).....Anyone else???

Wait...rodney, so does our admission officer view our applications first?

what do you mean same admissions officer??

There is a regional officer for different parts of the states. Like i think NJ/PA one is the same and NY has its own.

how bout if we're international?
when do you think we'd get a letter if we applied by jan 10?

Apparently our regional officer (Rakin Hall) is also the regional officer for East Los Angeles

D's USC status finally has

The committee has acted on your application, and we have mailed notice of the decision. If for some reason you do not receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

Taiwannese: Yea, so I heard...Not good ..Hey, do you want a laugh? Check out the UMich thread posted today about the kid who was accepted from Ann Arbor.....Uh, you think they care about standardized tests????? Ridiculous....

rodney, I'm from Jersey and have been in preliminary review since 12/13. I did read that one girl on here from NJ (candidate for Trustee's) got in.

Veggiehead: Yea, one person did; not sure which school at USC.....

Looking at the page with the regional officers, I now see that my interview in Philadelphia was with the [Delaware, Maryland, North & South Carolina, West Virginia] regional officer.

Hopefully they did that simply to fit in more interviews, but my other guess is that the interview isn't extremely important.

I suppose the bottom line is that I did everything I possibly could and it's in USC's hands now. All I can do is keep working hard on my goals and hope for the best.

^ Just wanted to put some of your minds at ease....it's only still the first week of February. USC will send their acceptance notifications during the next 6 or 7 weeks, to end March. Most I believe are sent during the month of March. So there is still plenty of time. Remember, USC received > 34000 applications, and that's a lot to go through. If your status notices don't change so quickly these days, it's really not something to worry about at all at this point.
For those of you whose status shows "acted upon", I expect you will hear good news in the mail in the next couple of days.

hi everyone -- my d is from nj too. just wanted to follow up on what sequoia just said. i just got off the phone with a woman in the admissions office. she basically said the same thing. she looked at my d's file and confirmed that everything was complete. she did not think that being caught up in "completed preliminary review" status since 12/19/07 was too long of a time. she said that most of the decisions that already went out were for scholarship interview candidates (with a very few exceptions). she also said that there were so many applications to go through and that it is still very early. so i guess we all just have to wait. good luck to everyone!!!

I called again just now and they said that they got my mid-year report but "they" (the admissions committee, I assume) "haven't acted on my application yet."

Compared to the people that have been posting their stats for the trustee/presidential interview calls, it makes sense. My SAT is definitely not on par with theirs. I suppose I'll just have to wait it out in the next six or seven weeks for PERHAPS a chance at a deans if I'm lucky, it seems.

I'm in PA and it's been stuck on preliminary review since 12/19. =\ Though that may have something to do with the fact that I applied to the school of cinematic arts, which I heard takes longer to decide due to the supplemental materials, et al~

I dunno what to think.

^ Shadekeiko: also read posts #314 and 315. There is no need to be too concerned at this time.

I self-reported my 1st semester grades 2 days ago and, whether doing so had any effect or not, my status went from "preliminary" to "decision made" an hour ago.

Have most of the people gotten something in the mail soon after this happened?

edit: Oops, my status actually reads "is being reviewed." Talk about getting overexcited, haha.

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

My status just changed about an hour ago from preliminary review. Don't think I missed any messages between this and that, since I check my status daily.

...which means that will be the second-to-last possible message possible, as I have seen all the other messages listed on this thread aside from the stuff regarding mid-year reports. I did send in my 1st semester grades though last week but never got any message regarding them. I'm hoping that's good news.

FOR THOSE ACCEPTED- How long did it take for your status to change from what I have right now to "decision made"?
