What does your status page say?

Mine is stuck in preliminary review

anyone wanna sum up this thread in one post (like if there is any significance to what the status page says, the stages, etc.)? It's a bit daunting to read through all 23 pages...lol

James25- I suggest you call admissions. It's certainly a first here on CC and a bit strange. Ask them to clarify and check to make sure you aren't missing anything.

still a preliminary review..........

Prelim Review since Jan. 15. I submitted my app. on Jan. 6.

is the 'we are currently reviewing' before prelim review?

Yes, apparantly

I think it's after. Here is the sequences:

1) Prelim review
2) Reviewing
3) Acted on

youson - I tried to summarize the message sequence at post #135 in this thread. I see more people now posting the "We are currently reviewing" status now, though, and I think it is an earlier one than "your app is being reviewed by the admissions committee." In other words, I've seen 2 kinds of "currently reviewing" messages on this board. The latter status is the one right before "committee has acted on/letter mailed". The former could be pretty neutral - and maybe it's assigned to people who did not apply by the scholarship deadline, or maybe to international applicants - I haven't figured out a trend. Regardless, my son has been at "completed preliminary review" for almost two months now...

preliminary review since january 11.

lynn4eva- Honestly, I'm not sure. Like rainmama said, there are two different types of "reviewing" stages, and for some people, the order is flipped. It could go either way for you.

Okay, this is ridiculous - I've been at this message for a long time!!!

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

WHAT NUMBER CAN I CALL???? I gotta clear this up in order to sleep soundly at night....

Uh. what are you complaining about? 3 weeks? There are a bunch of us waiting here on preliminary review since mid December.

Now, my status has changed:

We have completed an initial review of your application and would like to see the results of the first term of your senior year (final, not mid-term marks).

did any of you guys got a call about the Norman Topping Scholarship?
is this special?

and i'm still stuck at preliminary review T_T

Thanks to those of you who responded to my question a few pages back.

My status hasn't changed, but then again its only been two days. No one has posted about being accepted since I believe 2/5 so I'm guessing there's going to be another hiatus until the next batch is out?

UPDATE:

So for the third time in three times my status changed, this time to

We have completed an initial review of your application and would like to see the results of the first term of your senior year (final, not mid-term marks).

So I called the admissions office and asked if they had received my transcript which they had. The lady told me to write in my senior year grades online as well, I have no idea why since they have my official transcript, but I did it anyway. Status is still the same but hopefully will change soon to reviewing.

nhsharvard- What was your status before it changed to the request for midyear grades?

Indian- Call (213)740-1111 if you want, but I suggest you wait a little while longer. Three weeks really isn't that long in comparison to some other people, and the long review period might be because of the school you're applying to. If it's not Letters of Arts and Sciences, the admissions people have to do two different reviews, one to get into USC and one to get into a specific school.

^^ yeah, three weeks is nothing. I've been on preliminary review for exactly two months and one day!

i was accepted today (2/8/2008) in chicago...hoping for a scholarship...or is this a new wave of acceptances?
