What ECs should I include on my common app?

<p>I'm trying to include only solid ECs instead of a long laundry list of unconnected, random ECS so does anyone have advice on which ones I should include? Here's my list (in order of importance)... Should I include all of them? </p>

<p>Applying to UCLA, GWU, Boston University, Northeastern, UMiami</p>

<p>Community Service Club (Club Member 9th and 10th grade, VP 11th grade, Activity Director 12th grade)
6 hrs a week for 40 weeks a year
Respected community service club that participates in community events and activities: March of Dimes walks, cleaning and visiting nursing homes, raising money to buy items for soldier care packages)</p>

<p>Job at Gloria Jean's Coffee (Team Member during 11th and 12th grade)
20 hours a week for 52 weeks a year
Serving customers, cleaning, working cash register</p>

<p>Student Council Representative (Member 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade)
3 hrs a week for 30 weeks a year
School Student Council that organizes functions such as dances, blood drives, cancer walks, other school events</p>

<p>County Teenage Republican Executive Committee (Executive Secretary 11th, 12th grade)
6 hrs a week for 40 weeks a year
County-wide Teenage Republicans Executive Committee that plans county Teenage Republicans events</p>

<p>National Honor Society Member (Member 11th, 12th grade - officer elections have not been held for this coming year yet, so there could be a possibility for a leadership position)
4 hrs a week for 10 weeks a year
National Honor Society that participates in community service projects such as Salvation Army bell ringing and teas at nursing homes</p>

<p>Model UN Member (11th, 12th)
3 hrs a week for 40 weeks a year
weekly meetings/discussions, traveled to Baltimore for national competitions in 11th and 12th grade</p>

<p>Volunteer at local hospital (summers before 11th and 12th grade)
6 hours a week/ 10 weeks a year
Volunteering a local hospital's Gift Shop and Breast Care Center, worked hospital rummage sale and bake sale</p>

<p>Tennis (JV 10th grade, Varsity 11th grade)
16 hours a week for 12 weeks a year
JV Tennis during 10th grade, Varsity during 11th grade</p>

<p>Spanish Honorary (Member 10th, 11th, 12th grade - officer elections have also not been held for this coming year yet, so there could be a possibility for a leadership position)
2 hours a week for 12 weeks a year
inducted for outstanding grades in Spanish class, participates in school events and attends Spanish community events</p>

<p>Another question: Should I include Yearbook staff if I only did it for one year and held no leadership positions?</p>

<p>All of the ECs that you listed seemed to be worthy of inclusion. Nothing was like “30 minutes a month for Freshman year”.</p>

<p>I agree, I would include all those.</p>

<p>And for yearbook staff, I don’t see how it could hurt you to put it as your last entry. I’m not sure it would help you either, but they can see from your other activities that you are dedicated to certain things.</p>
