Hey all, just curious about where I should be applying this coming fall. I've never really considered schools outside of my state before. I would first like to apply for a M.S. in electrical engineering, and later on I may consider extending that to a Ph.D if I like graduate school.

Relevant statistics:

-3.3~ GPA at the University of Virginia School of Engineering
-690V 740Q 5s Writing GRE
-1 year working on a joint engineering project with a local nuclear power company and the engineering school. It's shaping up to be possibly publishable in a legitimate journal, but I don't know yet for sure.
-Treasurer of my school's IEEE chapter

I'm primarily interested in VLSI or chip design, but I'm not set in stone on what I will do in graduate school. For example, the research project I am working on has to do primarily with laser imaging.

A big plus for me is a university with an advanced Chinese program. I have taken a couple years as an undergraduate in between engineering classes and would like to continue studying it. This is one reason why I am seriously considering remaining at UVA for my M.S. I suppose this limits my choices for grad school to large public universities, however. Another factor to consider is the ease of which I can get a TAship to pay my tuition.

Any schools I should be looking it?

Also, should I consider retaking my GREs? I went in kind of cold. If my SAT is any indication, my scores should go up about 100 points after I spend some time reviewing and prepping. Would that push me over the edge anywhere?

Thanks in advance!
