I have straight A's, am the VP of school, on the speech and debate team (prose, placed fourth honors and other awards), SSAT 94th percentile, I do ballet 5 hours a week, placed first in international martial arts competition, gotten lead roles in various musicals, help teach English in China...

But is this enough??? AHHHH!! It is my total dream to go to Andover!! Please respond!!

She may be the best and still get rejected.
lol , Dont get the wrong idea! I want you to get in. But there is no sure fire way to get into BS. Unless you know…your dad plays golf with the headmaster. lol

Be sure to have some backup schools as well - know that Andover has many, many applicants with wonderful qualifications just as you have. Be sure to be yourself - show them who you are in your application and interview. Write thank you notes to your interviewer and guide - this is true for all schools to which you apply. Just remember that - unfortunately - not all qualified applicants can be accepted so find some other schools at which you would also be happy and good luck!

Apply to at least 5 schools that you would be happy attending, if you need financial aid apply to more. Be relaxed and comfortable in your interview and be relaxed and conversational in your essays.

Is it enough? There’s no such quota, unfortunately. No rule of two percentiles higher, twenty more hours of community service, one rank higher in student government. Relax, because stressing won’t help. There is nothing you can do right now, and nothing you need to do. There is also no guarantee that you’ll get in. Sorry, but that’s the reality. The best thing you can do is, right now or in a couple months, score an excellent interview and write a brilliant essay.

Andover rejects more than 80% of it’s applicants. You need to prepare for the possibility for rejection. I’m sorry if I sound harsh, but if you go into this process, you need to prepare for the worst, because there are no promises and no guarantees, beyond a good look and some consideration.
Good luck.

Sorry, I do totally need a chill pill. haha, I’m mean, it’s definitely not the end of the world if I don’t get in, right? There are equally good schools out there.

Hmm, well i do not know about Andover but i can tell you what I did to get into Hotchkiss which is very simmilar in many respects. Well here it goes. First I found a perfect sacrifice a camel is best but a goat or a lamb will do just fine. Then I drew a magical circle with a bit of an oak tree I found singing ‘Moniti Melioria Sequvmvr’ (hotchkiss moto) and alternatied it with hail athena (the patron godess of Hotchkiss). FInnaly I cut the goats throats and drank a bit of it’s blood (at this stage i was shouting hail ATHENA PATRON GODESS OF HOTCHKISS LET ME ENTER YOUR SCHOOL!! BLESS ME WITH WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE), and then i cut the tip of my finger and sucked some of my own blood, lit a candle , let the wax collect and then drank a miniscule amount of it before I ate the entire goat save the eyes (i buried thoes in the ground as an offering to athena). And geuss what ! It worked !! I am in the class of '10. I am definently going to repeat this process for Harvard - different god though :(. Go ahed give it a try.

are you serious??? lol, I don’t know if I can find a camel… or if I’d want to do that… I really wouldn’t want to cut off the tip of my finger, much less suck the blood…but thanks for the tip :-)

by the way, which god are you going to use for harvard? haha

lollipopluvr - I felt the same as you did when I applied to Andover, and well, it worked.
So, other than the fabulous stuff you are doing and have already done … write a really good essay that shows your personality and be relaxed with your interviewer. Your interviewer will be great and is there to get to know you better. Also, remember to send a thank you note to your interview and guide.

I did the essay on the three people. I had to choose three people from literature or history, write why I would want to meet them, and then what I would be able to teach them and vice versa.

Please help and be as harsh as you can!! I am new to this website, and I am also applying to Middlesex. I need to know if I have a good chance

SSAT- 70’s
EC’s- black belt,
I have all A’s
I am taking all high school classes, and I am in 8th grade
I am a good soccer player, our team has won several awards and we are ranked nationally
I perform magic tricks, and my interviewer seemed impressed
I play guitar, piano, and I am in my ensemble class
I am in advanced biology, and I take Geometry
I frequently hike and rock climb
And my Destination Imagination has been to globals, we placed 52/82
Recommendations should be good
I wrote great essays also
And my interview went great!

I know I have a lot to offer a school, and I hope my SSAT scores doesn’t bring that down

Please be as harsh as possible, I want to know if I really have a chance

I think you definitely have a chance, because you are most certainly qualified. Just chill till March 10. What is done is done!! :)

PS. This is my thread from like, months ago!! I can’t believe how freaked out I was!! Haha, I should have put all the energy in my apps, instead of wondering if I had a chance or not. This is definitely something future applicants should keep in mind!
