I'm curious to see what everyone else picked as their uchicago essay topic. (Don't post what you wrote about, but just the prompt you chose). I wrote the history one, and was wondering which ones are the most and least common.

I’ve been wondering this, too I wrote my own, but I actually used the joke prompt to help write my common app main essay

i picked the history one.

wrote my own, but I was thinking about doing the joke one! what did you guys all put down for prospective majors?

history, english lit, philosophy

haha awesome, I put down political science, philosophy, and English, so I bet I’ll see you in a bunch of the same classes if we’re both accepted!

awesome! hopefully see you there :)

I put Theater and Performance, Comparative Human Development, and Cinema and Media

I did Apples and Oranges.

For majors, I put Political Science, History, and Public Policy Studies. The last one was a wild card, but I needed something to put down.

I did the “you and your” prompt. I actually wrote a serious instead of quirky, humorous essay…hope that pays off.

For my majors, I listed Economics, Public Policy, and Romance Languages and Literature (I needed a third).

the make your own prompt

majors: econ and comp sci

My essay was serious. The direction I took the prompt, I think, was creative, but it was definitely serious.

Mine was fairly serious too

mine was serious too.

Oh, good! I’ve always gotten the impression most people write quirky/comical essays, so I was a bit nervous about writing a serious one. Glad to see I’m not alone. :)

I made my own.

Majors:
applied mathematics, biochemistry, and comp sci

Where else are you guys applying? I like Vassar and Brown, too, but it’s hard to find anywhere as awesome as Chicago (no offense to the other schools )

just Northwestern and a couple of local colleges

The “what is history” prompt!

Majors: econ, french

Brown is my top choice!! (I think…I’m loving UChicago more and more)
