What ethnicity am I?

My mother's roots are middle eastern but my father's family is malaysian :/ And I was born in Pakistan XD

Asian and White according to the Department of Education definitions.

Asian: “A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian Subcontinent, including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.”

White: “A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa”

You would put ‘biracial’ or ‘multiracial’ on the application. I think there’s also a part where you can put ‘other’ and explain. Do you speak any language other than English? That could be something to note in the additional info section.

@phantasmagoric I speak English, Urdu and French.

The only “ethnicity” question that is asked in the college application process is whether or not you are Hispanic. I would say that you are not.

If you’re asking about Race, I would think you could comfortably answer Asian, White, or Mixed Race/Multiracial, depending on what part of your heritage you identify with most strongly.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Mixed race/multi racial/bi racial are no longer options on college admission applications. It’s a two part question, as CuriousJane alludes to. First part is are you Hispanic, yes or no (in this case “no”). Second part is what races are you, check all that apply (Asian and white in this case). When the school reports enrollment by ethnicity to the state and feds, pkteen will be one of those counted in the “two or more races” category.
