Asian Difference in Applications

Many colleges in applications simply ask if you are an "Asian or Pacific Islander". Some ask for specific ethnicity or heritage. I am Chinese by Ethnicity. However, my heritage and culture is Filipino. Would it be helpful to college admissions if i were to disclose my heritage as Filipino?

Thanks for everyones response.

"Chinese by Ethnicity. However, my heritage and culture is Filipino"

Which are you?

im chinese but my family is from the philippines, meaning that several generations ago, my family emigrated there. thus the customs and traditions are filipino but i have chinese blood.

Ok...you're filipina...

Blood = ethnicity.
You have Chinese blood, you're Chinese.

I visited last summer. Does that make me black? If so, I'm in!

Wait, so are you from the Philippines or are your parents from there?
And what language do you normally speak at home (other than English)?

my parents are from the philippines. they speak a whole assortment of languages at home because of the variety of peoples where they grew up. at home, they mostly speak a dialect of chinese spoken most often in taiwan.

Check Asian if a box. Put Fillipino (Ethnic Chinese) if asked.
