There seems to be a lot here in college. All I see is 24/7 partying and so much free time that is ridiculous. Love it when I see the girls(and my friends) with their starbucks on one hand and notes on the other-all serious for worthless majors. Me and my friend are working our ass off doing our engineering project, designing, researching and building it. While they sit around and joke and have a good time(in the library!!).

I am convinced if my son/daughter does some stupid major like this, he/she is on their own. No way I am paying for the party times and sorority fees. "Do what i tell you to do exactly or just get out!!".

Don’t bash people’s interests. Not everyone can be an engineer, programmer, mathematician, or scientist.

Although I consider a major like “psychology” a joke, my girlfriend studies extremely hard for it and I am proud of her. I am a math major and work my butt off, but it is nothing too insane at the moment. It is what she wants to do with HER life. She wants to help people and she tried the medical route, but she could not take another semester of organic chemistry without feeling like a failure getting a C+. My best friend majored in Sociology and he is now a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. I consider that a pretty cool job.

The smart thing to do for people is to “supplement” or have a back-up plan who take on these kind of majors. Thus, my girlfriend double majored in something else.

If you party and do not care, a 2.5 will not get you any job at the big communications jobs. (My friend has a bachelors in communications and he advertises and edits articles in a newspaper.) He was a 4.0 student, and didn’t party. He loves what he does. If they like it, so be it. I like Business, trash me for being a business major, I don’t care. When I am out in the real world enjoying what I do then I’ll look back and laugh at everyone who is simply doing something because of the money.

@Andy, if you are so frustrated, then you should spend less time on CC and more time studying. Then you might have more free time to have fun with your friends instead of making threads and complaining. You should be more concerned about the students who are actually in your major and are working hard.
