Title mostly says it all. Please distinguish between ED and RD

In your answer, please include the following :

SAT Score-

ACT Score-

GPA-

Type of extracirculars/ internships -

Anything else?-

Thanks !

We all know that the college admissions process is "holistic".

If someone had the answer to this, I’ m sure they could sell it for a good price!

No one knows exactly what is needed. Everyones guess is as good as the statistics provided by Cornell.

You don’t really get any slack on ED versus RD. Yes, ED has a higher acceptance rate, but correlation does not imply causation. The caliber of students is roughly the same and more are accepted because they show commitment to the school. An admissions officer once told me that they consider roughly 80% of students “admissible”, meaning their they see enough in their application and stats to think they’d be successful at Cornell. “Holistic” isn’t a buzz word. It’s a fact. I dare you to find a meaningful difference between someone who scored a 1460 and a 1400 on the SAT or someone who is ranked 1-3 in their class and someone ranked 4-15 (or higher depending on class size). If it’s anything like my high school, the difference in GPA is in the hundredths of a point.

So what do you need (more or less)?

SAT - 1850
ACT - 28
GPA - 90+ or 3.6
Extracurriculars/internships - Anything that shows passion

Anything lower than that will usually require some amazing X factor for a student to be admitted. If all you do is barely meet those requirements, you probably won’t be admitted, but your post is what do you “need.”

mikeyc765-Just out of curiosity , do you go to Cornell?

morrismm- Every college has a basic range of what scores their going to accept

Also, and i guess i should have clarified this, what stats do you need to have more than a 50% chance of getting in , not the bare essentials .

I graduated in 2011. To have above an above average shot:
SAT - 2100+
ACT - 32
Extracurricular/internship - Anything that demonstrates excelling at an activity

Pub–exactly as I said. Look at theirs stats, overall ad school wise?

Pub- be careful w/ grammar.

mikeyc765- You have any idea of the necessary GPA range ?

morrismm-you saved me from making a mistake on the ACT - Thank you

Without looking at the statistics (which I’m sure you can find if you search the forums), a good GPA range to go with is 3.7+. What really matters is your rank because GPA can vary by school (ie. be in the top 10% of your class).
