<p>I know it says its considered and its to get to know you, but what exactly do the alumni do? From my alumnus, it sounded like he will write a rec for me, but from some older posts on this board it looks like they grade you 1-5. Does anyone know exactly what the alums do and how the admissions office looks at the opportunity to learn more about us?</p>

<p>They write a short (~1 page) evaluation of you based on the conversation you had and in it, they give you a score and justify it. Not sure how exactly the admissions office reads it but it’s something akin to a description of a first impression and can be a good way to gauge what an applicant is like in real life beyond the paper application.</p>
