More Tips for Alumni Interviews!

I just finished my interview. Contrary to what a lot of people said, the interview was not to "sell" Duke to me and to make it my #1 choice. From the beginning, my interviewer said that the interview is used to get a sense of my personality and everything else that can't be put on an application. So it was really more evaluation than information. Only at the end when I asked her questions about Duke did she give me any information about it.

Oh and she asked questions off of a sheet called "best interview questions" or something like that.

So my advice is be prepared to talk the entire time about yourself. You will get hit from all angles. Be ready. I got blindsided by the question "If you were principal of your school, what would you change?"

This is basically another piece of your application. Good Luck!

I just finished mine today, as well, very pleasant exchange.

My interviewer also looked up several questions to ask me off a sheet, and I got blindsided by the question “If you were to meet 3 people (alive or dead) right now, who would they be and why?” She also answered many of my questions, and was very helpful in filling in gaps of information I had about Duke student life in general.

Best advice for this (and every other) interview is simply be yourself, be honest, and they do not mind seeing you have some faults. Nobody is perfect.

Good luck to all!
