When a school says you shoudl have atleast a B average to be competative, how would you interpret it? I am assuming thye put their transfer cut-off @ a 3.0 then, would that mean their transfer GPA averages around 3.5? No sites have transfer GPA info so I am just trying to get a feel for it.

top 75% applicants have 3.5 is how I read it

do you mean 75% of the applicants have a 3.5 or higher?

Or that the 75th percentile of applicants have a 3.5?

Which sites are you referring to? Saying none of them have that info is incorrect.

collegeboard, PR, petersons, the schools website. I couldn't find it anywhere, where so you think it is?

it's all on their websites
gosh do some research before asking questions
why would you even look at collegeboard etc even before looking at the school's own websites?

Which SCHOOL?

SABEG, maybe you should open your eyes before you open your mouth. You must have missed where I said ON THE SCHOOL'S WEBSITE. Good try though bud!
Renix, it is Rollins College in Florida, I couldn't see it anywhere on the site, maybe you can find it.

3.0 would be a B average in most systems

I got that part, but all it says is to be competative you should have atleast a 3.0. It doesn't say anywhere what the average transfer gpa is or anything along those lines. I was just curious, they do say they admit about 50 students from a pool of 255 or so.

wut
ii'm VERY sorry
i didn't quite read that part so you are def right lol
but I think tborderline for your gpa is kind of hard to tell since ppl come from every school' some come from cc and some from other top colleges
so from what i have been told and seen, I can say if you are from a cc, you will need somewhat around 3.8 and so on..
but i can't throw some specific numbers for u srry

3.0 to be competitive? try to strive for a 3.3 or above.

probably means 3.0 is the 25th percentile.
and maybe 3.3 is the 50th percentile...
and 3.5 is the 75th percentile.

of APPLICANTS. Then the percentile ranges of those admitted are even higher.

what if a school says they accept students with a 3.0-3.5 GPA Explicitially over the phone? That means 3.0 is the low end?

when they say that they just mean that the middle 50% of the students they accepted have a 3.0 to 3.5 gpa. there are people with lower and obviously higher gpa who have been accepted. technically there is not really a "cut-off" except the 2.0/C grade that every university sets. there is no guarantee that someone with a 4.0 gpa will get accepted by a top university and someone with a 2.0 gpa will not be accepted by a top university. most universities don't solely look at grades, as there are many other factors that they consider. so don't be discouraged when you have lower than their "recommended" gpa. as long as you have a C or better they are "obligated" to look at your file. obviously you have a better chance of transferring with a 4.0 gpa than a 2.0 but this is just my two cents.
