What exactly is a 4.0 in college?

Do they give letters? Or is it like high school - a 100 average

It’s all A’s. Typically this would be a 93-100 in every class, but for some universities that don’t use the plus-minus system, this would be 90+.

So in a perhaps perverted sense… it is easier to keep a 4.0 in college?

Technically, yes. That being said, from what I’ve heard at my university, we haven’t seen a 4.0 in over 10 years.

No.

Many high schools determine GPAs in the same way as universities.

“So in a perhaps perverted sense… it is easier to keep a 4.0 in college?”

Ha. I wish my undergrad was as easy as high school. People get 4.0s in college all of the time, but each of them had to work their tails off for it.

It depends on what your major is.

A few colleges give extra weight for A+'s …such as a 4.3. That helps balance any A-'s that are only given a 3.7.

If your college doesn’t give extra weight for A+'s, then if you get ONE A-, you can never get a 4.0. The best you can get is a 3.9X.

What do you mean that it’s easier to get a 4.0 in college?
