What exactly is the deal with the 3-week classes?

I'm guessing that they're optional... since they're during the Winter break. Am I wrong? Are they covered by financial aid or do you have to pay per class if you're interested? Are they credit-bearing? Do they go on the transcript? Are they graded on the A-F scale or Pass/Fail? Is there anything else to know about the 3-week classes?

Session is [Optional

Financial Aid: Available

Credit Bearing: Up to four credits](http://www.sce.cornell.edu/ws/index.php)

Transcript: Well if you get credit, obviously

Grading: either, but a few courses are Letter grade only. (pass/fail is called S/U at Cornell, FYI)

Anything and everything can be found here, but you've already been linked there twice by this point in the post. :D

Thanks a lot.
