I’m a sophomore in high school and I’m very interested in chemical engineering. I know colleges want to see you do extracurriculars related to your major and what you’re interested in, but I can’t really think of any that relate to chemical engineering. Do you have any suggestions for extracurriculars I can do related to chemical engineering?
Colleges aren’t expecting HS students to have chem e specific experiences. My daughter is studying chem e and while in HS she participated in sci oly, pre-engineering courses, STEM summer camps, robotics, shadow days etc…
She also made sure her classes reflected her interest - AP chem, Organic chem, AP Physics C, AP Calc, etc…
@momofsenior1 I plan on taking most of those classes, but my school only offers AP Physics 1 and 2. I know I probably won’t get college credit for these, but do you think colleges will look down on me for taking those?
College look at students in the context of their school. There is no problem with taking AP physics 1 and 2!
