Hi! I have a quick question regarding the resumes. Are resumes actually sent to the colleges that you are applying to or are they just a way to organize everything? Also what should go on a resume? Should it go all the way back to elementary school? Any advice would be great, thanks so much!

Even if you have a separate resume, you still need to fill out those resume-like fields on the common app, but I’m doing a separate resume, too! Apparently only your achievements (essay contests, science fairs, etc) in HIGH SCHOOL should go on your resume. I put my volunteer experience and extracurriculars on mine, too.
I would use one of the MS word templates to organize it all. Hope this helps.

You can do a separate resume, but as the previous post says, you’ll have to fill it in on the app sections for those too. I think it’s nice to have in all on one resume sheet though, so I’d make one. Yes, they can be sent to colleges when they’re formal, organized, etc. No, just high school, not middle school and definitely not elementary school. Resume includes: all achievements, honors/AP/advanced courses, registered senior classes in progress, awards, volunteering, work experience if you have it, references contact, extracurriculars, and I think that’s everything…all that I can remember! Your HS guidance/college counselor may have a template you can use that would give you a list of what should be included and a way to organize, so ask about that.
