What goes on top of the IDOC forms

This is my son's first time to go to college and my first time to fill out these documents. I am confused as to what goes on top of each page. When I printed out the information after filing the CSS Profile, the Additional Requirements section talks about:

"Clearly print the student's name and college or program assigned Student ID (if the student has one, or Social Security Number if he or she does not) on all pages of the copy."

The above statement shows up for all the requested Additional Requirements.

Then when I got the IDOC Requirements paper, it says:'

"Have you printed the SSN (if applicable) for the document owner (student, parent, spouse) in the upper right corner of each document submitted? Do not print the student's SSN unless he or she is the document owner."

Those statements directly contradict each other. What is the correct action? Will there be a problem if the students info is on every document & the owner's information is also printed on top?

Please help. This packet was supposed to have gone out last week, so I need to get it in the mail on Tuesday (no mail tomorrow).

I don’t recall ever seeing that first statement. We followed the IDOC checklist and printed the SSN for the document owner.

IDOC is poorly configured. The FAQs mixed questions from institutions and students. Collegeboard has no accountability.

This is what we are going to do:

1) On the upper right corner, print the SSN for each document owner.
2) On the lower right corner, print the IDOC ID and the page number.

The second item is to provide them a way to sort out the correct pages if one staff drops multiple IDOC copies on the floor. You just can’t trust them. :(

In response to ace550’s suggestion about adding IDOC ID number the documents:

I would not add the IDOC ID number to documents. Colleges will receive copies of these documents. They could conceivably use the IDOC ID number to look at what other colleges the student is applying to, as they would have the other required information to access the student’s IDOC account. Not that they would do this, but…

Just put the SSN of the document owner on the top right corner (if it is not already on the document). Make sure you have the IDOC cover sheet on top of the package.
