What good colleges can I get into with a 3.4 GPA?

Hi! I went to a high school in NJ. I would like to go to a college near or in New Jersey. Thanks!

I took 5 Honors classes

  1. Biology
  2. Chemistry
  3. Geometry
  4. Algebra 2/Trig
  5. Pre Calculus

I took 2 AP classes and currently doing 2 as a senior

  1. Physics A (scored 3)
  2. Computer science A (scored 4)
Currently as a senior i am taking and AP Physics B, and AP Calculus AB.

I scored a 30 on the ACT and 1250/1600 on the SAT.

3.4 unweighted GPA,

I was in the programming club at my school from sophomore year to senior and i did my volunteer work. I got to Tae kwon do after school and i went to 5 tournaments (got certificates from each tournament) and i got a 3rd degree black belt (have certificate from Kuikiwon). I also do piano, will the after school things i do help me in the application process? I want to major in computer science or software engineering. Thanks

Rutgers, NJIT for sure (with merit too, perhaps)

ccm, njit, rutgers, rowan, tcnj, stevens, st. peter’s, montclair, rider, william patterson, kean, new jersey city university.

Of all of the above, NJIT is the best and CCM is the cheapest.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Hey, thanks for the response!!! How much of a chance do you think i can get into Rutgers Computer science(its in Rutgers SAS) ?? Thanks again…

Thank you!!! Do you think i will be able to get into Rutgers Computer Science( rutgers school of SAS). THANK YOU AGAIN?

What’s your weighted GPA (that’s what Rutgers uses)? Based am the admissions profile on the Rutgers admissions website (see http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Academics/AdmissionsProfile.aspx and click thru to the pdf), and assuming your weighted GPA is above 3.6, you would place in the middle 50% for both GPA and ACT … thus giving you a very good chance for admission.

@EECESE
According to what @mtown27 said above and the link they posted, it indicates a good range of what the average student has. As you can see from this link, it shows that Rutgers considers the gpa and sat as very important.

Look at line C7

of those mentioned above only Stevens and TCNJ are in the class above the rest.
