What “groups” do you belong to enrich your life?

my real hobbies are the pro bono projects I participate in. I typically try to do one at a time. They use my particular skill set and try to help push things forward on very large problems (e.g., helped end a civil war, helped Congress work more effectively to pass bills (it led to the passage of a number of bills – on the basis of a formal evaluation, a big foundation chose to fund an expansion of it – but that was a few years ago and I’m not sure what the legacy of that project ), speeding the transition from fossil fuels, etc.).

Did you mean to say you do this pro bono or was it autocorrected and you are Bono from U2?

My current groups:

my pickup soccer crew- we mostly met while playing in a county organized drop-in program and now play in that and also on the weekend.

I’m in 2 parenting related groups that are mostly on-line

Those sound like fascinating groups/projects to help with. How did you initially connect with them / how would you suggest someone interested (but without your network) get into that sort of “hobby”?

I have not run into Bono. He is in a higher orbit, I think.
