Does anyone have a 2027 daughter who is NOT into sororities?

It’s not my kid’s bag and am hoping there is at least half of girls who think the same. Curious. TIA
(Also I was in one at my college so I’m not bashing. They seem way more “instaface” oriented now.)

My D is a Freshman who is not into sororities. She has friends who are in one and friends who aren’t. It doesn’t seem to be a big deal and is not exclusive, she frequently joins her sorority friends at parties. There are so many opportunities to get involved and meet people that joining a sorority is not necessary.

ok. thanks for responding!! (kinda worried that nobody from 2027 has chimed in yet. )

42% of women at Tulane are in sororities, which is a really high percentage. Of course that means 58% aren’t in sororities.

I was going to say the same thing.

~8,000 kids at Tulane with ~60% of them Female (4,800), 58% not in sororities so ~2,800 are female and not in sororities.

As I understand it - possibly wrong - but kids don’t pledge until their second semester anyhow so would think your DD would have plenty of time to align with kids that are into whatever she’s into. They have lots of clubs - would encourage her to get involved with something that speaks to her - higher likelihood that she’ll find someone with common interests.

Yes. The club thing is a good idea for any school.
Thanks for replying!

The 2027 Instagram page is definitely full of a lot of bikini clad girls on vacation in exotic places. Was kind of worried about this myself, like are there any “normals” going to the school??
When we visited campus everyone seemed to be a lot more chill so hopefully that is the case, but yeah, I get your concern.

ok. glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this.

On the school instagram page? I just looked at that and don’t see a single person in a bikini in it.

Assuming you’re talking about some other instagram page - those accounts are going to be filled with kids that like taking and posting pictures of themselves - bikini clad girls. :joy:

Ahh - got it - that’s a “class of 2027”. I only follow the actual school instagram account. As a parent I agree that there’s probably a little too much skin in some of those pictures but if I waited outside DS’s highschool at the final bell it’s probably not inconsistent with what some are wearing these days. FWIW though - those are the same kids that are active on Instagram in general - that doesn’t mean it’s the picture/attitude of the “typical” kid that’s going there.

I just got accepted to Tulane and I am planning on attending as incoming class of 2027, and greek life is most likely not on my radar. It doesn’t feel like my kind of scene, and I’ve heard that at Tulane its an even mix of greek life and non-greek life.

thanks for replying! good luck!

My daughter is class of 2027 and will be attending Tulane. She does not plan to rush, and I don’t believe she will change her mind.
