So, I’m taking my ssat exam in January and I fear that my test results may come out a day or two later than Exeter’s deadline. This brought up a question in my mind. What usually happens if an application is submitted later than the deadline?
For a highly competitive school like Exeter? You should assume that if the school accepts your application (which they probably won’t past a short grace period post-midnight), that it will be viewed less favorably than those who managed to gets their apps in on time. Submit your app on time and the question becomes moot.
The test results are a different story. If a school accepts January SSAT, they know the scores are not available until they are available.
@skieurope I recently sent them an email. I’ve heard cases of students who submitted their application weeks after the deadline and were still reviewed. Some were even waitlisted.
I think the deadline is the deadline. Yes, they may look, accept or even seriously consider those past the deadline. But with thousands of applicants, why risk it? Agree that if they are standardized test scores and the school accepts that date, it’s likely fine. BTW, they are not looking for more applicants. So what actually happens to the late ones? We heard at one school they start reviewing applicants as they are completed. No idea what happens at each individual school.
You should contact your AO and ask what you should do. I believe I read for several other schools that you submit your application on time and then submit the scores when they become available but we aren’t applying to PE so you should check yourself.
Don’t believe everything you hear. I heard that Santa and Mrs.Claus were getting divorced. That does not make it true.
Now maybe if young Prince Hashem of Jordan is late submitting his application to Deerfield, his application would be reviewed since he’s a legacy and his father is a head of state. For the unwashed masses, they need to get their application in on time.
Again, schools generally give a grace period for items not in your control, like scores. Your application, though, needs to be on time.
