I recently took the SAT 2's ... French, Math IC, and US History.
I scored in the 700 range for Math and US but for French, I scored dismally - 530.

So, I was wondering ...
1) Say I take SAT 2 Lit and Math 2c and score in the 700s for both of those. Would the French score still glare out on my application? (That would mean that I would have taken 4 SAT 2's with 700's.)

2) If you were me, would you retake the French? And if so, how do you prep for a foreign language?! I get A's in my honors french class and up til this point, I thought I was pretty proficient (apparently not).

If you can answer any of these questions, or have anything to say, please comment away! Thanks, guys

Hey why don't you just put your good scores on the application? It's not like you really have to send your SAT score report unless you've taken the SAT I so many times and other sub-scores are higher than others. If you don't send the report, you can just put lit, 2c, 1c, and us history. I'd retake the French if you could and have time...do many practice questions. Oh and welcome to CC ;)

It is, but you don't have to send the actual score report, right? If you send the SAT score report, any test you've taken in high school that has the word "SAT" in it is included on the sheet. But I don't think you have to send the report, maybe you can just write your good scores on the application itself. I mean, sure, they might request the score report from Collegeboard themselves, maybe if they were suspicious, but I don't think you have to send it with your application.

No, she's saying that you don't have to send your score report if you don't want, which is news to me... you can just put down a few scores and they'll trust you? That's hard to believe.

Thanks for answering guys (feels good to know that someone can actually respond to my plea of help). But, yeah, I do believe that when you do send out your SAT scores, College Board will send out all of them. I'm pretty sure you can't tell them to exclude a certain score. Plus, I've already send that score to my 4 top-choice schools ... oh boy ... =D

sarorah, I'm pretty sure you must send an official score report to each school where you apply. Otherwise, why would they have score reports in the first place?

I don't know, but it's not on the checklist for most school applications. And they have a section for you to put your SAT scores. Maybe they just have it for colleges to check up if the need to. I've never seen anywhere that you have to send in the report. The only way it would help you was if you took the SAT I so many times and got varying scores or you took all the tests once or twice and got amazing scores, especially if you got the good scores the 1st time.

Sarorah, you have to send your score report. Hell, I'll put down 5 800s otherwise. But trust me, it must be sent. You're only a sophomore, correct?

Almost all colleges require an official score report before they will even consider your application. The official score report includes your 6 most recent SAT I and 6 most recent SAT II scores. However, most colleges will only consider your highest two/three scores. If you have four other scores > 700, I wouldn't worry too much about having one bad score and I definately would not bother retaking it unless your colleges will give you college credit for a high SAT II French score (a very few will). The AdCom's will most likely only see your 700+ scores and even if they do see the lower score, they realize that a variety of factors could have caused that low score and since it's inconsistant with the rest of your academic record, if will most likely be disregarded.

You get four free score reports with each SAT I or SAT II registration (only at the time of registration - you can't accumulate free report credits and send them all at once), but other than that, CB charges $9 per score report you send.

I didn't 'send' my SAT scores to colleges... the guidance department at my high school sent a copy with my transcripts. The only college that had a problem with this was Princeton, which wanted me to send my scores straight from the College Board (and I was glad I did... 40 bucks later I was rejected... oh well, I don't regret a thing).

Oh, and to answer the OP's question... for SAT II scores I got 760, 730, 730, and 580. I sent them all to colleges and still got in to my number one (Duke). I'm sure that your having four 700+ scores will be fine. Good luck to you!

A secretary will tell the adcoms what your best scores are, er...write them down, don't expect adcoms to wade through all of those looking for ur best score. Secretaries are cheaper than adcoms.

THe colleges say that they will only look at your top 3, and disgreard others. But personally I think thats ********. I would retake, but unfourtantely I can't give you any advice, when i retook Latin a year later, my score skyrocketed a whopping 10 points.

I'm pretty sure the score report they get is exactly the same or very similar to the chart they give you at the bottom of the score report they send each time home for each SAT. If you notice, they keep a record of all SAT I and II scores. This is why you should send you should use your last 4 free score reports for colleges that you know you're going to apply to for sure, so they'll get the full score report. Any other time you send the score report before, I think it's just to get on the mailing list.
