What happens with incomplete early decision applications?

A few days before the decisions for Princeton were released, I noticed that the school requires SAT subject tests, even if you take the ACT, but at that point, it was too late to send them off. When the decisions came, I was deferred.

If you are missing part of your application, is it an automatic deferral? Or do they still evaluate you and give you a decision anyway?

I think Princeton admissions was trying to give everyone the benefit of a doubt because of all the Common App glitches. I would assume that since you are deferred and not rejected that you can submit SAT subject test scores so your application will be complete for regular decision.
