Pro: More motivated to do well in school

Con: I realized that I discovered this site too late and that I'm never going to get into the school I wanted to. The competition basically shot a hole in my hopes and dreams. Bah.

Con: I realized that I discovered this site too late and that I'm never going to get into the school I wanted to. The competition basically shot a hole in my hopes and dreams. Bah.

Pro: All the motivation and people here I have to look up to. My school has the lowest average SAT score in the county and seeing all these 2200+ has gotten me to realize that I can change. No one in my school gets into HYPSM but I still want to apply.

Con: The pressure is enormous. Going into sophomore yr, I know its not going to be easy and I also know that I have to get straight A's and A+'s if I want to get in to "reach" schools. I've also spent all summer prepping for the PSAT and now I know that my ECs can never be totally impressive.

CC has got me hooked. I prefer it more than stupid myspace or all the other junk my friends do on the web. I'm way too embarrased to tell any of my friends and would be very surpised if anyone from my school was a CC'er.

Well, I came here to know whether GPA is important in admissions process with an idea that only final testing matters (as it does in ex-USSR :) ). I was wrong, very lucky that I realized importance of GPA before 10th grade.
Also, I get to know that spamming professors is OK and that's how I'm doing now what I like :)

But CC takes some time off course.

It has made me socially inept and educationally enlightened, yet renders me mentally depressed. :)

It has taught me that NOTHING is enough. NO ONE gets into HYP except people who would obviously get in. I am agreeing with kchen.

It has also made me realize that even though most people here aren't total dweebs, our influence on each other makes us overstressed uberdorks. Am I right?

yes your right lol.

Haha, I'm a little more optimistic than some of you. Despite the low post count, I've been lurking here for two years (I'm a junior now). I think for me the biggest benefit of reading CC/generally caring a little more than normal about college is that I know the location of and general information about a pretty wide range of colleges. It's making things a lot easier now that I'm actually trying to develop the beginnings of a list, and makes me a lot less prone to "if I haven't already heard of it then it can't be any good" syndrome

Pro: Now I have a better idea of what top colleges are looking for...and what I need to do to get in.

Con: It made me realize that I'm actually not all that smart compared to some other people on here with 12 APs, have start their own businesses, and have a near perfect SAT score.

CC has kept me focused on applying to college.

But it's also made me feel inferior to other people, at least at first.

pro:learned about alot about college/high school prep
com:regretting decisions made frosh/soph years

"A 800/800/700 is bad because it's lopsided. LOOK AT IT. That 700 is going to kill everything else."

LOL

Wow. Even though you are a little over-worried, I see that as a sign of dedication. I mean if thats ALL you care about then you should kind of relax, but if you are really working hard then thats intiative. Also, your guidance counseler has a job to do and if she is not doing it, then thats not your fault (unless you make an appointment per day) :P. Anyways I dislike video games, electronics and T.V BUT college confidnetial is actually very productive because you learn a lot. Anyways, lighten up and enjoy life because next thing you know, you might not have any left.
