Everybody keeps on saying that this guy has done wonders to the university (or something along the line). what are the basis for these comments?

Has made attempts to unify the campus through transforming the athletic department, college halls, etc. Also -- I think he cares greatly about the school and works hard to further its reputation. Not to mention his kind e-mails during finals week and cool bowties.

I don't remember the specifics, but my sister graduated from Vanderbilt this year.... Apparently in about 4 years he got Vanderbilt to move up 4 places in the top rated schools which is unheard of.... think about it... that's kind of huge to move that quickly... but then again I may not know what I'm really talking about...

He's done a great job of extending what Joe B. Wyatt got done before him. In the life of the university, having only 7 chancellors is quite a statement.

Gee equals charisma. He's also set some big reach goals and is making progress. He's well connected. He's very visible.

Gordon Gee just seems to be personable and popular everywhere he goes. With the exception of his time at Brown, he's seems to have done no wrong. Did you know that when he was at Colorado (or maybe it was Ohio State), he was so popular that many speculated he could run for governor as a Republican OR a Democrat AND win?

That idea is a pretty crazy thing to ponder. I think he is great for being so active on campus and weawring those crazy bow ties! I love them and the cookies. But for real, I like the diversity he has promoted on campus, even thought it may only be a dent on the total ambiance of the university.
