... anyone heard of the Indiana Academy?

Pride is great and there are many great schools. But the question was which are nationally (and we can add internationally, recognized). Give or take a few it's a no brainer.

Privates: Andover, Exeter, St. Paul's. Deerfield, Choate, Eaton.

Publics: TJ, Stuy, Bx Sci, Boston R & L.

There are many other great schools, but few with national recognition.

In the West Coast, most people have never heard of Deerfield, Choate or Eaton.

The only schools which are truly nationally recognized are Andover and Exeter. I think we can all agree on that.

in oklahoma the best highschool is OSSM (oklahoma school of science and mathematics). there are also several other "math and science schools" around the nation that top the list.

Surprised North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics wasn't listed.
It is a free public boarding school. They admit about 300 juniors each year.

I got in. Excited. They have highest number of Siemons semis and finalists, and took home 1st place last year!

I used to live in California. Most adults who have been to college know most of the elite NE Prep Schools, which would be Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield, St. Pauls, and Milton. Those six are generally known as the best academic high schools in the nation.

Choate is especially known in Hollywood, as the school somehow has an uncanny way of churning out numerous actors. The other prep schools are generally known by adults all over the nation because elite colleges are crowded with their alums.

wait what qualifies a school as being nationally recongnized (perhaps a stupid question)?

u should at least know Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield, and St Pauls.
without a doubt the most prestigious.

forgot to list the last two before :-X

IMSA

The message you entred is too short.etc.

European History

Small: Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School,

Birmingham, Ala.

how random is that?
Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield, and St Pauls
Yea, defintely the most prestigious schools in the nation.

North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics

I also got in and will be attending this August.

It is the first Science and Mathematics school of its kind and was made in the 80's and other schools have used it as a model to make their own science/math boarding schools.

Its so cool.
We are the number high school in the nation for research and have sent the most people to Siemmons Westinghouse.

i repeat: what qualifies a school as being "nationally recongnized"?

Illinois - Chicago Best Private schools:

Bennett Academy
The Latin School
University of Chicago Lab School
St. Ignatius College Prep

clearly audioslave is from northern california...
i'm from out west and i've heard of andover, exeter (but only vaguely, honestly I'd probably have guessed that they were in England, like Eton or something) knew choate from having family in connecticut, the rest not so much.

but i think i win for the most recognizable high school in the us...
...Columbine...

Yeah, it's sad, but i still definitely win.

for what? football?

academically it is far below other area schools.

the top three public high schools in los angeles county:

san marino

rancho palos verdes

walnut

it probably will come as little surprise that two of these schools have a significant number of chinese students.

i went to the university of chicago lab school. it was incredible.
we were playing symphonies on piano at age five.
latin school also outstanding...many went on to u. chicago.

Yay for HUNTER
Our school really doesn't get the kind of attention that Stuy and BxSci does, since it's pretty small. Sad.
