What holiday gifts are you buying (or receiving)?

Things I’m getting for son and daughter in law-the things I mentioned from Oliviers & Co, some Bonne Maman, a gift card to a Nordic restaurant and bake shop near them, a membership to a very nice museum near them that allows members to walk their dogs on the grounds on Sunday mornings, some granola ordered online from Red Truck Bakery (they really like granola).

For other son-he is flying so giving gift cards for light packing-gift card for good deli restaurant he likes near where he works, gift card to cool looking brewery near him, gift card to REI, gift card to coffee subscription(probably Atlas).

That’s it for now. We’ve never really given money/checks so they don’t expect that.

One kid is getting a new garage door opener, not festive, but quite needed

And will likely be used and appreciated daily. Sounds like a great gift.

We just ordered a new bathroom vanity and mirror and skinny cabinet thingy for Xmas. It’ll be installed sometime next summer when H is out of school.

H also fell in love this weekend with GF’s mom’s Keurig K-duo coffee pot/single serving coffee maker. He only uses instant at home. So I told him we could get him one for Xmas. I hate coffee so it won’t be used by me! But he is excited.

Don’t they make tea and hot chocolate k cups?

I don’t drink tea either and only hot chocolate when I’m sick and I only drink my Swiss miss double marshmallow packets! I’m happy to let him have it!

Other than Diet Coke and water - and Walmart brand grape Crystal lite in the summer, that’s all I drink. I’m pretty picky I guess.

Just putting this out there…my H bought a light bulb that changes color with a remote. We have a small lamp in our kitchen and I have to say it’s been an unexpected source of enjoyment. Blue, red, green, white ( all iterations plus dimming capabilities). I laughed when he bought it but it’s really great! Acts as a nightlight or a mood enhancer.
Considering gifting a few because it’s been so much fun.

The BJs catalog came this week. The fit bit I want is on sale starting the 17th. I’ll be there the 19th to buy it!

Kind of a fun gift if you have pets. In the spring, H and himself a tropical shirt with his favorite cat. He liked it so well he got one for older S and his dog - and it was a hit with his GF’s family on their beach trip. You can choose the color of almost everything on the shirt - leaves, flowers, etc.

And you can add up to 5 different pictures of your pet(s)! So for xmas we are getting the GFs xmas pajamas pants with their dogs on them.

Here’s the link for the pants though they have lots of other things. It did take them awhile to come in this summer. Maybe 3-4 weeks?

My kids are big podcast listeners. (me too) My DIL has been listening to lots of audiobooks this year. She uses the Libby app through the library to download books and listens to them during the day between her work calls. Libby is great but you often have to wait for the most popular books - I thought it might be fun to get her an Audible subscription - assuming the newest books would be more available??? Has anyone experienced a good Black Friday deal with Audible???

My husband is a HUGE audible fan.

I’m not sure if there is a deal or not. It would probably be 3 months at a reduced price if there’s anything.

It’s a monthly subscription. 14.95 a month. That subscription allows you many sales. And free books. My husband almost always buys either the sale books or free ones. He always has tons of credits to use. The most recent sale was 2 books for one credit. That was good to use up some of his accumulated credits.

You only have access to the sales by being a member.

They have a deal right now - first 4 months for $5.95 and then $14.95 after. So even with the subscription you are still “buying” the books…at a reduced price??? How do you earn credits?

I guess I’m sort of wondering if it IS a step up from the Libby app…

Edited to add this “how it works” info - in case anyone else is wondering!

Oops wrong reply…

The husband likes to save his credits for new releases and books that have value over 14.95. He will pay cash for books that are less.

He listens to a ton of audiobooks, more than one per month.

I like audible because you can read the books when you want, not tied into waiting for them to be available with your library system.

He listens to too many books. He exhausted the library’s selection quickly. So we purchased the audible subscription and he’s made good use of it.

Your daughter should have access to her local library for Kindle borrowings. When we were in Hong Kong I borrowed a ton of books from our library. I have Kindle, Hoopla and Libby as separate apps on my phone.

Because we left our car in the new garage in Maine this summer, we had to buy another one when we got back to AZ. It looks naked without Michigan stuff plastered all over it, so I ordered a license plate frame and an “M” emblem for DH to deface the new vehicle with on Christmas day. Oh, and a tiny maize and blue “M” sticker to put over the “M” key on his keyboard. Merry Christmas, DH, and Go Blue!

I mentioned Oliviers & Co. What gift pack did you get? I got the olive oil and vinegar assortment. It is cute but small. Hope your foodies like what you got them!
