im hearing about crown college and their recent implementation of 2 themed houses, but what other colleges on campus are worth nothing. Im a Jr transfering in =P

I think you’ll have a better experience with a different college. Crown is a great college, don’t get me wrong, but it seems like a lot of people tend to transfer to a different college after staying at Crown. I know a lot of people that like it at Crown but just because you’re interested in CS doesn’t mean you should go to Crown.

If you are set with Crown, don’t get into the themed houses. Why not get an Apartment either on or off campus? It’s totally up to you. Just make sure to be social/outgoing when you move in to wherever you choose.

Also, Good Luck with your first year at UCSC! haha

haha, yah I think i want to dorm the first year though since I’m transferring in I won’t really know anyone there yet so spending a year getting to meet people and etc might work out better than renting a 1 bedroom apartment @@ that kinda expensive.

It’s not about your major. It’s about the kind of person you are, and your interests.

True, there are a lot of game design and CS majors at Crown. We’re sciency and nerdy of course. Generally Crown is more study-intensive, with fewer of your typical booze parties. Nerf gun wars are our favored social activity of choice, after LAN parties. Of course there are plenty of “normal” people in Crown, and if you so wish you can find a more average college experience at Crown. It’s all about who you choose to hang out with.

Don’t go into a gaming themed house at Crown unless you want pretty much all of your social time revolving around gaming. That was what happened last year, some people were quite miserable for it.

@@ eeeeh. that sounds pretty bad. Crowns sounds nice though for science major. Seem like alot of people would share some common interest in the subjects plus it won’t be to noisy. CS:GD get priority pick in the game themed housing right? But, from the sound of it crown should be good, but the game themed housing might be a bit to distracting for me.

Yeah, CS:GD does get priority pick for that theme. Since you’re a transfer you might want to try for one of the “continuing student” houses. I think those are Galen and Gauss.

=( after going through some of the housing stuff. it seems like transfers wont be bale to live in anything but the “transfer area” of village UTC and something else. i really wanted to be able to go to crown or something and meet people of similar major and interest

You can transfer out of that after your first quarter.

oh. =) horrayy. For me it going to be a big change from living in socal to moving up to norcal for 2 years. Plus i want to get the most of college since i screwed up in highschool and went to a cc than did 3 years, i’ve met some really interesting and cool people along the way though.
