What if I know nothing about my subjects?

What if I never listened or did the homeworks and failed the tests for the Biology and Chemistry classes (regular and AP) for my high school years? If I want to turn over a fresh leaf and try and get A's as a freshman in college can I still do it? Im taking:
CHEM FUNDAMENTALS I
CHEM I LABORATORY
PRIN BIOL II

As I want to be a Biology major. Are these courses the kind that start from scratch so it's OK if I dont know anything about Biology? or no?

bump 10 char

hmm slightly similar problem. i took ap chem in eleventh grade, and now i cant remember anything. ANYTHING. and im in gen. chem II. eeck.

You’re not meant to know anything beyond basics. Read your textbook if you’re so worried… you’ll learn everything you need to know. If you find that you’re lacking prerequisite knowledge, google the stuff that you need. It’s very simple. There’s nothing to worry about.

Of course, math is a different story, but I think that’s about the only one that really requires some solid foundations.

Wow you bumped your own thread after like 7 hours of no answers, you really need to calm down.

Sounds like you didn’t try in HS, which is why you failed. Try, and you won’t fail.

On Studying:

Are you sure you want to be a Biology major? It’s not a walk in the park. If you’ve never “listened or completed homework” for your science classes (or any class for that matter), you’d better start doing that or else you’ll do miserably in college as well. You should do all homework assignments - even the ones the professor won’t grade. They’re assigned to help you study and do well on the exams. Listening to college professors during lectures may seem boring, but FOCUS anyways.

I second cherryapple. You need to make sure you really love biology and have the willpower to get that kind of a major done. It’s hard, and will be impossible if you don’t get some good study habits down.

Best thing I ever learned in college: don’t come to class simply ready to learn the information. Look over your reading and come with an idea of what you’re learning that day. And really learn it, not memorize it, by the next class. Helped me so much with taxonomy last semester. Especially when the professor would yell out random organisms and I could instantly yell back their classification.

Ok yeah I will try  It sounds so hard.

And yea Im just scared the prerequisites might be too much for me to handle on top of everything? or no they aren’t too much stuff?
