What if admissions was purely merit-based? What sort of class would we see? If we didn’t have people seeing whether we’re Hispanic or Asian, whether we’re rich or poor, whether we have others applying from our school or not - wouldn’t it help to know that your application is reviewed solely on the basis of its merit, and not on factors you cannot possibly help?

Everybody would either be Asian or from a Prep School in New Jersey or Long Island.

"At top high schools, Asian Americans constitute even larger proportions of the student body; over half at Stuyvesant High School, which practices race-blind admissions."

BTW, if you didn't know, Stuyvesant HS is probably the best HS in New York state, and one of the best in the nation.

well, my school is about 90% asian i think. well, maybe not that high. but then again, it reflects the racial mix of the state quite well so it's not surprising.
