I've seen very few discussions on minority applicants/admissions and I was wondering what the average stats of minorities admitted to NYU were this year.

How much of an advantage are they given in the admissions process?

yea im wonderin bout dat too

Yes! I Want To Know This As Well!!!!!

lol. no idea. i count as minority, but my stats are above the median for NYU so, heh
<3

I just found this article. I see it as a major positive! But what do you guys think?

"The university cannot use financial aid to attract minorities because the financial aid office grants need-based aid and merit scholarships regardless of race or ethnicity."

makes me happier about the merit

im a minority, and my stats are average/ above-average
but as an asian-american, i got a $15000 scholarship from brandeis (predominately jewish school), i doubt nyus gonna offer me anything or even accept me- their students are qualified and diverse enough

schools can still try to attract minorities w/ money, even if they say taht they don't- i'm not sure about this, but one of my teachers vaguley explained it to me

however, i doubt that nyu will really try to ATTRACT minorities, i mean really, they're such a diverse school

wow. multiracial people r considered as minorities? (so would my friend who is half american/korean also be considered?)

how easy does it get though? (compared with a Korean student like me?)

If you're poor and a minority...maybe. But I'm a minority and they're not giving me a dime.

they def do try to attract minorities, theres this program ceop or something thats only for URM and NYU basically gives all of them a free ride along with other perks.. (they get move in during the summer, free tutoring all 4 years of nyu, etc...)

sry someone told me this last time, but what's URM again??
