What is a good non-business major to dual with business???

I am going to business school but I always hear that a plain old undergrad business degree is not very useful. What are some good majors to combine with my business to open up more opportunities??

Engineering, Econs, Accounting, Finance

I’m assuming you mean Business generally rather than a specific facet of it such as Accounting.

If you know what industry you would like to practice business in then focus on something that would send that signal.

Examples?

Graphic Design for Advertising
Physical Education for Sports Management
Engineering for Technology Sectors
Operations Research for Supply Chain

etc.

Most of the time a second major is not really going to give you that much more opportunity so I suggest adding a second major that is really interesting to you.

But I’m guessing thats not really what you were looking for so…some useful second majors are

math
economics
a foreign language
engineering

Math/econ if you want a quantitative job, foreign language if you want to do international business.

In Halo, a plasma gun and a submachine gun are decent.

In D&D, can’t go wrong with dual wielding twin katanas.

In college, you probably want to look at your school and figure out how many credits you have that will count for both and how much the extra major will cost you. For me to get a BBA and a BS in economics would require an extra 24 hours or so compared to just the BBA. For me to get a BBA and a BA in Art would require more because my school makes you take language classes and whatnot for a BA. So I’d say you take all the things you might be interested in, like math, engineering, and figure out how much of a pain it will be to get each.

Personally, I doubt any will be lucrative enough compared to the others to offset the cost in time and money incurred if you have to stay an extra semester just to get it. If you are looking at an extra two or three semesters to get 2nd major it better be clearly applicable to the work you plan on doing.

My son is applying in the fall and wants a business/music double major. His career goal is to be an agent, record producer or recording company executive. Pretty focused kid who is an awesome blues/rock guitarist. Has played in a band that opened for Derek trucks of the Allman Brothers and Leslie West of Mountain. Appeared on several CD’s.

My inner geek disagrees vehemently with that statement.

Anyways, I recommend psychology. Some very hot chicks in that major.

This. From what I’ve seen, marketing has a lot of cute girls as well.

communications and nursing also have a lot of cute girls

Vigore, it depends on what field in business you want to pursue.
