I'm going into my junior year, and kind of new at this whole SAT thing. I have no idea what score is good or not. So far, I have taken 2 practice tests.

First time: 1950

Second time: 2050
CR:710
W:700
M:640
This is without studying. My SAT tutor thinks I can get an 800 on CR, so that would bring it up to a 2140. If I study a lot, what can I get? My dream schools are NYU and Barnard, so would a 2100/2200 get me in? My extracurriculars are decent, but my GPA is low (3.6/3.7 UW)

Those are good scores, and yes a 2100/2200 is high enough to get you into NYU and Barnard. You’re right about your GPA; it’s relatively low, but hopefully other parts of your application will save you.

Thanks-I also have a double legacy at Columbia, which transfers to Barnard, and will have gone to their pre-college program 2 years in a row, and will apply ED. The low GPA is due to health problems (anorexia) that I was struggling with this year, and missed most of the winter.

You have potential, 2200 would give you a good chance for NYU. I’m thinking you’ll end up around 2300+ though, and your GPA is not a big problem.
