These are my top schools --ideally, I would get into both but either or is fine.

GPA= 4.32
EC's:
Band, Choir (Officer position), Pep Band, Master Choir, A-capella Group (leader next year), Drama/Theatre, Yearbook, DECA (manager) (states qualifier), Model UN/Congress, State and regional choirs (very strict audition process with few who are admitted), leo club secretary...
over 80 hours of volunteering (will increase to about 300 this summer)

*i might be forgetting things

SAT practice test score: 1900 (im taking my first one tomorrow D: )

So...what do you guys think? I would apply early to barnard :) therefore increasing my chances to about 47% from what i read?

*** forgot to mention the classes I will have completed by the end of my senior year:
AP Lang & Comp, APUSH, AP biology, AP Physics, AP Psych, AP Calc AB, AP British Literature, AP French V

You may have a chance, but I suggest trying to bring up that sat score. I’m a Barnard hopeful, my score is 2080 and I’m still striving for a better score (to make up for my lack of ec’s).

Oh yes, I know. My score is quite terrible :[ im planning on getting to at least a 2050…I’ll be prepping this entire summer and retaking the sats in october. Good luck to you!

If I got to a 2100, after reviewing everything I wrote, do you guys think I have a chance? Pretend I got a 2100, is the SAT the only thing that is the problem?

We need to know your UW GPA…
And a 2100 would put you in good shape for NYU, but if you want a realistic chance at Barnard you should probably have a 2200+. As far as ECs, they seem solid and focused (on music, ect.), so you should be fine there! At this point, it all comes down to the SAT for you. Good luck!

GPA is more important at Barnard than the SAT, but you should still aim for 2100 for a better chance. The middle 50% are: M 630-730 CR 620-710 W 650-750. Try to get 75th percentile or higher.

@guitar500: Oh this was a question I had! So do I need to get my scores between these ranges or does the entire score simply have to add up to at least a 1900…do you know what I mean? For example, it wouldn’t work if I got an 800 in math, 800 in writing, and 300 in critical reading, adding up to 1900.

I think colleges look at the individual scores, not the composite, so you should try to get close to an even spread. I’d go for at least 700 in each section.
