What is a good set up for like a 8/10. I was thinking 5 paragraphs with the following set up.
Introduction
Refutation ( other side)
Paragraph 2,3
Conclusion.

neutral introduction, half sentence counter argument in second body then state your thesis. one argument in that paragraph. 1-2 more body paragraphs, counter argument, conclusion. Look at the example of the essay that got a 6 in the book

I got a 10 with the following format:

-Introduction (state thesis at end)
-First Argument
-Second Argument
-Conclusion

Not the most original model, but it worked. I did throw in a bit of a counterargument in the first and/or second body paragraph, though it was pretty much does a sentence or two rebutting the other side. If you can fit 5 paragraphs in 30 minutes, then go ahead, it will look better so long as they don’t seem extremely rushed. However, if you are going to do an entire paragraph on the counterargument, you should save it for after the other 2 body paragraphs.
